There ground bar is a discipline born in the 1930s-1940s thanks to Boris Kniaseff, a ballet master and dancer. He conceived this method when he opened his own school in Switzerland. Faced with the impossibility of fixing warm-up barres to the walls of a building listed as a historic monument, he adapted the traditional barre exercises to be performed directly on the floor, without any accessories.
This Innovation gave rise to a practice combining movements from classical dance, muscle strengthening, and stretching. Now called «floor barre» or «ground barre», this method has evolved to include different approaches, such as classical floor barre, dynamic floor barre, as well as variants inspired by Pilates and yoga. This offers a complete range of practices suitable for all levels.
Floor barre exercises are inspired by the fundamentals of classical dance and are performed either sitting or lying down on a mat. They help to improve posture, tone deep muscles, joint flexibility, and correct body alignment. These exercises include specific movements to strengthen the back, abdominal muscles (the core), and to improve hip, shoulder, and leg mobility.
Each session generally begins with a thorough warm-up, essential for preparing muscle tone and flexibility. Then, more targeted exercises are carried out, promoting posture and body awareness. The absence of a physical bar requires increased body control, strongly engaging the proprioception and muscle control.
In summary, barre is a gentle yet complete practice, ideal for those who wish to combine muscle strengthening and stretching while improving their posture and joint mobility.
There ground bar is a particularly effective method for a Deep muscle strengthening. It engages the deep muscles, particularly those of the abdominal core, back, and glutes, allowing for the development of a muscle tone essential for maintaining good posture and preventing imbalances. The exercises emphasise control and precision of movement, often performed isometrically, which also tones the stabilizing muscles, often overlooked in other disciplines.
En pratiquant régulièrement, vous favorisez non seulement la Shape your silhouette, but also a better Global muscular endurance, indispensable for supporting the body on a daily basis while avoiding trauma to the joints.
Beyond muscle strengthening, the floor bar is ideal for improving flexibility and correct posture. Stretching exercises performed on the floor help to loosen the joints and muscle chains, offering a greater range of movement and Greater flexibility.
Groundwork eliminates the constraints of gravity, making poses more accessible and aiding in a Body awareness. This effectively helps to realign the spine, prevent muscle strain, and increase joint mobility.
Combining dynamism and gentleness, floor barre allows you to find the perfect balance between muscle tone et flexibility, ideal for a harmonious body and natural posture.
